Child Safety Policy
Yacht Today Thailand welcomes families and children onboard our yacht charters and selected marine experiences.
The safety of children and minors is extremely important. Parents, guardians, and responsible adults must actively supervise children throughout the charter and follow all safety instructions provided by the captain and crew.
1. Parent and Guardian Responsibility
Children and minors must remain under the supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult throughout the charter.
The captain and crew are responsible for the safe operation of the yacht but do not replace parental or guardian supervision.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for monitoring the children in their care, particularly near the edge of the yacht, stairs, swimming areas, water toys, and other potentially hazardous areas.
2. Life Jackets
Children must wear an appropriate life jacket whenever required by the captain or crew.
Depending on the child's age, size, swimming ability, weather conditions, sea conditions, yacht design, or activity, the captain may require a child to wear a life jacket for an extended period or throughout the charter.
Parents and guardians must ensure that children follow these instructions.
3. Swimming
Children may only enter the water when swimming has been authorised by the captain or crew.
Children must be appropriately supervised while swimming.
The captain or crew may prohibit or stop swimming due to:
- Strong currents
- Waves or rough sea conditions
- Poor visibility
- Weather conditions
- Marine traffic
- Unsafe locations
- The child's age or swimming ability
- Other safety concerns
A decision by the captain to prohibit swimming is final when made for safety reasons.
4. Water Toys and Marine Activities
Children may only use water toys or participate in marine activities where appropriate for their age, size, ability, and the conditions at the time.
Activities may include, depending on the yacht and booking:
- Snorkelling
- Paddleboarding
- Kayaking
- Inflatable water toys
- Slides
- Floating pools
- Fishing
- Other available water activities
Some activities may have minimum age, height, weight, swimming ability, or other safety requirements.
Availability of an activity does not guarantee that every child will be permitted to participate.
5. Jet Skis and Motorised Water Activities
Jet skis and other motorised water activities are subject to additional safety requirements, operator rules, and applicable laws.
Children and minors must not operate motorised watercraft unless legally permitted and specifically authorised by the relevant operator.
The captain, crew, or activity provider may refuse participation where they consider it unsafe or inappropriate.
6. Supervision Around the Yacht
Children should not be left unattended in areas where there is a risk of falling, slipping, or entering the water.
Particular care must be taken around:
- Open decks
- Stairs and steps
- Boarding areas
- Swimming platforms
- The bow and stern
- Railings
- Wet or slippery surfaces
- Water access points
Running or unsafe play may be restricted by the crew.
7. Cabins and Interior Areas
Parents and guardians should supervise young children inside cabins and other interior areas.
Children must not interfere with electrical equipment, cooking equipment, emergency equipment, doors, hatches, machinery, controls, or other operational equipment.
8. Safety Equipment
Children must not play with or misuse life jackets, life rings, fire extinguishers, emergency equipment, navigation equipment, radios, or other safety equipment.
Emergency and operational equipment must remain available for its intended purpose.
9. Food, Allergies and Medical Information
Parents and guardians are responsible for informing Yacht Today Thailand in advance of any relevant dietary requirements, allergies, or other information that may reasonably affect a child's safe participation in the booked service.
Where food is provided, reasonable efforts may be made to accommodate requests communicated in advance, but specific allergen-free conditions cannot be guaranteed unless expressly confirmed.
Parents and guardians should carry any personal medication or emergency items required for children in their care.
10. Infants and Young Children
Parents travelling with infants or very young children should inform Yacht Today Thailand when making the booking.
Suitability may depend on the yacht, route, weather conditions, sea conditions, and nature of the activity.
The captain or operator may impose additional safety requirements where necessary.
11. Weather and Sea Conditions
Weather and sea conditions may change before or during a charter.
The captain has final authority to determine whether conditions are appropriate for children to participate in swimming or other activities.
An activity may be modified, delayed, relocated, or cancelled for safety reasons.
Safety decisions made by the captain do not automatically create an entitlement to a refund.
Please refer to our Weather Policy and Refund Policy for further information.
12. Behaviour of Children
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that children follow reasonable instructions from the captain and crew.
Dangerous behaviour may result in a child being prohibited from participating in a particular activity.
Where behaviour creates a serious or continuing safety risk, the captain may take reasonable action necessary to protect the child, other guests, the crew, and the yacht.
13. Alcohol and Prohibited Substances
Alcohol must not be supplied to children or minors contrary to applicable law.
Illegal drugs and other prohibited substances are not permitted onboard.
Please refer to our Guest Conduct Policy for further information.
14. Child Passenger Information
Certain bookings may require information about children for passenger records, accident insurance, marina requirements, or safety purposes.
Parents or guardians may be asked to provide information such as the child's:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Passport or identification information where required
Such information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
15. Emergency Situations
In an emergency, all guests must immediately follow instructions from the captain and crew.
Parents and guardians should remain responsible for their children while following crew instructions unless directed otherwise during an emergency.
The captain and crew may take reasonable emergency measures necessary to protect passengers and the vessel.
16. Refusal of an Activity for Safety Reasons
The captain, crew, or relevant activity provider may refuse or stop a child's participation in an activity if they reasonably consider the activity unsafe because of age, size, ability, behaviour, equipment requirements, weather, sea conditions, or another safety concern.
Safety decisions made by the captain or crew must be respected.
17. Responsibility Before Booking
The person making the booking is responsible for providing accurate information about the number of adults and children joining the charter.
Where the booking form requests children's ages, accurate ages should be provided.
Customers should contact Yacht Today Thailand before booking if they are unsure whether a particular yacht, route, or activity is suitable for a child.
